☝️ Nothing is "inevitable" (certain) until it's happened. Nobody can forecast the future profitability of a feature that may/may not get released.

@benthompson I think the bigger problem will be revenue.

90% of $5B revenue was ads. It seems (increasingly) that much of that has evaporated.

It’s doubtful that Twitter Blue will reach even 5% of that number.

Decreasing staff costs only helps if revenue stays higher than expenses.

@JordanGal The idea and demand for decentralized, federated networks was around long before crypto.

FidoNet started in ‘83. It was a way of sharing public and private messages, and was quite popular by the time I was a teenager in the 90s. It’s similar to Mastodon in many ways.
