It’s valid (and necessary) to criticize anyone in power who is behaving irresponsibly, illegally, or dangerously.

(In the same that wouldn’t accuse anyone of having “Putin derangement syndrome”)

It might be “derangement” if you’re criticizing folks who:

- have no power,
- whose actions were inconsequential,
- and were behaving admirably.

But we’re talking about two of the most powerful people in the world who are behaving in clearly reprehensible ways.

Telling someone they have “Tr*mp/El*n derangement syndrome” is a pejorative way to dismiss and minimize destructive behaviors that have real consequences.
