@typeoneerror I ended up getting the M1 Air (instead of the MBP).

It’s not my daily driver, but it feels ridiculously fast.

Plus:
- No touchbar
- No fan

@mronge @mynameis_davis @jdnoc The Prosumer category has always had elements of B2B and B2C. It’s the category in the middle.

B2C can be challenging, but B2Prosumer can be quite lucrative.

(And with the creator economy growing, it’s only going to get bigger)

@CaseyNewton Except there always seems to be 3-4 rooms about “how to start a podcast” going at all times. 😜

I’m still not convinced that social audio will replace (or significantly reduce) podcast listening/creation.

It’s less “audio entertainment” and more “networking/social event.”

Replying to @dohertyjf
@dohertyjf No, because the centralized distribution on platforms like YouTube eventually de-leverages creators.

(Different than traditional SEO on a Google search)

Currently, the front-page recommendations are killing YouTube creators who built a subscriber base (nobody checks that tab).

@theothercole My predictions:

1. Monthly podcast listeners grows by ~20% in 2021.

2. Social audio won’t be widely adopted in 2021. It’s used primarily by early tech adopters, but won’t break through to the general population.

3. Once the pandemic ends, social audio usage will diminish.

@SaraSoueidan Ultimately, market demand for Tailwind (and by extension, the Tailwind skillset) is driving its increased usage and popularity.

The trend is already there. You can not like it, but there’s going to be a lot of webdev jobs that will require it.

@SaraSoueidan His primary argument seems to be “I don’t like this because everyone says ‘Tailwind is the future’.”

What’s wrong with saying that?

It is “The Future” in the sense that it will be:

a) increasingly adopted
b) a good place to earn a living as a web dev

@Clew_less @Podnews I think paid subscriptions for podcasts do work, just not at a massive scale.

It can be a great living for individual creators; but not for a trillion dollar company looking to make shareholders happy.

@Podnews Premium podcasts don’t seem drive enough revenue to be “Apple scale.”

Analysts seem unimpressed with Spotify’s foray into podcasting (it hasn’t driven significantly more business for them).

What we really need is Errors & Ommissions + Cyber Liability.

If entrepreneurs could consistently and reliably "create demand" they would!

But it just doesn't happen.

What entrepreneurs *DO* have is choice.

We get to choose which "pockets of pent-up demand" we target. We get to choose which market we build for.

Realtors don't create the demand for houses; homebuyers do.

Many realtors thought business would suffer during the pandemic, but instead, it went up!

A number of external and internal factors came together and created a seller's market. Prices increased.

In most cases, "market demand" isn't created by the entrepreneur.

It's already there. Customers are already feeling the need.

Entrepreneurs are tapping into that potential. We're responding to demonstrated demand.

@adamwathan I guess we should ask Jeffrey Katzenberg about that. 😂

I’m also realizing (more and more) that Demand and Distribution have a reciprocal relationship.

More Demand often results in new pathways for Distribution to occur and get amplified.

The podcast search engine, @ListenNotes, provides some recommendations.

These are “ok,” but they seem to be just pulling shows from the True Crime category.

(Unfinished is often placed in the True Crime category, but feels different than most True Crime)

Yes, there examples of indies making bad apps.

But I’m continually amazed what a small team of 2-3 can do when compared with multi-billion dollar megacorps.

I think Transistor (as a 2-person team) stands up against much larger competitors.

@dvassallo I don’t want to debate semantics.

The whole world is celebrating because the USA just ejected a clearly toxic and dangerous individual from office.

It’s important that we identify him (and label him) as such.

Otherwise, we’re rationalizing his behavior and the harm he’s caused

But we’ve had 4 years of Trump. We’ve seen who he is.

He is not just “sort of bad”

If my friends were voting for Mussolini or Putin I would call them out too.

There’s a threshold for what is “reasonable.” Trump blows right past that limit. Let’s call a spade a spade.
