@celienboillat @driesvints It’s true! I started working remote in 2012. It saved me 2 hours of driving a day, which allowed me to:

- start multiple podcasts
- launch @megamaker
- quit job, start consulting
- write a few ebooks
- speak at my first tech confs
- launch a course
- launch @TransistorFM

I wish our culture gave people space to explore more.

So many people feel squeezed: too much to do, not enough time, barely making ends meet.

We flourish when we have margin.

Here’s the response Spotify gave us:

“There are currently some Spotify ingestion delays - the most recent update is that it should be fixed within the next couple of hours and episodes should begin to show up. We will circle back with you if we hear anything new!”

Ok. Now I’m getting reports that @spotifypodcasts is having problems!

(Ironically similar to Apple’s issues?)

New episodes not appearing today in Spotify. 👀

Anyone else seeing this? https://t.co/mfNj8KQ64X

“Well hold on, we should probably review the code and test this on staging first…” 🤣

@Shpigford I just highlighted it for you. 😉

- how does crypto, practically, increase a regular person's freedom? (or better yet, freedom for the poor and disenfranchised?)
- how does crypto "create greater security or safety for one’s finances?"
- how is crypto more convenient?

@Shpigford That must depend on your POV, because I found the main argument solid. 😜

How is crypto shown itself to be functionally useful as an alternative currency?

@cgimmer @tylertringas @marshal Also, could it be that demand for assets (and their increasing value) can also be attributed to more “regular” folks wanting to own stocks and property?

(Low interest rates help, for sure, but they’re not the only factor)

Also: the pandemic.

@cgimmer @tylertringas @marshal There’s a balancing act here, to be sure.

But “free market” can’t really apply to central banks. 😜 They literally have the power to raise / lower interest rates.

@StephanieKelton lays out a compelling argument in her book.

(Chris, I’m curious: are you in favor of higher tax?)

I originally met @HelenRyles in the @megamaker community in 2014. In 2018, she became a moderator there.

I’ve always been super impressed with how she treats people. 👍 She’s also a talented maker, and has released a bunch of cool indie projects.

Glad to have her on the team!

Exciting news: @HelenRyles is joining us full-time at @TransistorFM! 🎉

She’ll be Head of Customer Success: helping podcasters get their audio out into the world. 🎙

Helen has been helping us part-time since 2019; really exciting for @jonbuda and I to be working with her FT. 🙌

Listening to @leenyburger and @mjwhansen’s podcast is uplifting.

It’s the “two founders talking to each other” format without any of the smugness or ego.

It’s refreshing to hear their genuine enthusiasm and support for each other. ❤️

It’s ok if your idea fails.

There’s no shame in trying something, and it not working out.

If it’s not the right idea, the best thing you can do is let it go.

BTW - Apple and Spotify want to change the meaning of “subscribe to a podcast” to mean “pay for a subscription.”

(For free podcasts, they want you to “follow” the podcast)

But the long-running paradigm of “Subscribe to my (free) podcast” is going to be tough to supersede.

@NathanG That’s my point.

In that case, Apple’s 3 categories (as listed in my video) make the most sense:

- Free (RSS)
- Freemium (RSS + bonus/ad-free)
- Paid

Better to be clear about the most common use-cases than give people an option that only a tiny % might use.

@NathanG Yeah, I was mostly just brainstorming out loud, in the moment. 😉

“Free shows hosted only on Apple Podcasts” seems incredibly niche.

The majority of free podcasts will continue to be syndicated via RSS: publish it in one place, and it automatically distributes everywhere.

@chrismessina @StephenWilson @gruber @AppleMusic Creators are going back to open protocols: email, the web, RSS.

They’ve been burned by centralized platforms (Youtube, Medium, FB) who own distribution (and the connection with the audience).

What’s old is new:
- email newsletters
- podcasts (RSS)
