But I rarely check FB anymore. Same with IG.

I’m still holding on to my late-2013 MBP.

Can’t hold on much longer! 😅

I asked my newsletter that question this morning, and I'm already getting some great responses:

@robwalling YESSS! So glad you wrote this down. This framework has been really helpful for me as a founder. ❤️

@deadcoder0904 It’s very difficult to build a software company as one person.

(especially if you’re bootstrapping)

Almost everyone I know who has done it successfully has cofounders.

@deadcoder0904 My experience so far:

- 2002: opened a snowboard shop with co-founders (did not turn out well)
- 2008-2018: ran a little solopreneur business.
- 2018: started Transistor with Jon

There’s not one size fits all, but for software biz I’ve seen how having a cofounder is helpful.

@juliaborgini 👋 I'm an amateur webmaster too! Still learning tons.

@Statamic is the CMS (like WordPress).

Tailwind is a CSS framework (kind of like Bootstrap). I used it to build a custom Statamic theme for my website. 👌

@conorgil @TransistorFM Oh man, so hard to say. So much of it depends on a podcaster's existing audience.

If you're building a new podcast from scratch, really difficult.

The average podcast gets less than 1,100 downloads per episode in its first 30 days.

@thepodcasthost @jonbuda Totally. It’s scary to think: is this all just a bubble? Is there a big churn cliff coming?

I think all we can do is keep building the best product, and giving the best service.

I’m realizing that so much of “social drinking” is just having a drink in your hand and feeling like you belong. 👌

Club Soda + Lime / Cranberry / etc saved me!

@david_l991 @patrickbjohnson I think we should be able to go to `/privacy` on any website and see what they're using for tracking.

(Also: isn't it better to control privacy settings and permissions at the browser level?)

@mubashariqbal @tylertringas “# of customers” x “avg yearly spend” is your SAM:

10 x $1,000 = too low
1000 x $10 = too low

It’s not unti a bootstrapper gets into this range that it becomes baseline worthwhile:

1000 x $100
100 x $1000

“Size of niche” and “$ they spend” are both important variables.

@louisnicholls_ Are we talking about "small markets" or "smaller niches within larger markets?"

I'm not opposed to targeting a small niche initially within a larger market.

My point is that if your total addressable market is only 10,000 worldwide, that's going to be difficult to bootstrap in.

The opportunity existed because all the hotel rooms were booked up.

Their history, from the beginning, is about being in the same market as hotels.

@meet__chopra 1. This week's took me a lot longer (and the are themes I've been wrestling with for years). Probably 5-6 hours of focused work.

2. Nope, I just write them based on what feels the most clear.

3. Content is almost always decided by what I'm thinking about / wrestling with.

@tylertringas Yes, one example there was the "marketing for devs" market. "Programmers" is a huge market, but the % who want to learn marketing is (comparatively) tiny. And the % who wanted to learn marketing from me was tinier still. 😉

My point is that the "smallest viable market" is bigger than you think. 👌
