@gruber And they’re still allowing folks to run their own paid podcast subscriptions, outside of Apple’s?

@HeyHeyESJ I agree that copying and pasting a url is bad, but we’d already gotten around that using deep links.

@SamuelHulick @earthlingworks @tylertringas @Shpigford I asked Tyler to turn on his computer, plug in his mic, and record his audio on QuickTime.

So we both were interacting on Twitter Spaces with ear buds and our phones, but also recording on our mics at the same time.

(We tried to get Josh's audio too, but that didn't work)

Yes, your ability to execute matters too, but that ability is largely determined by the time you start building.

It's the culmination of all your practice, skill development, experience, assets, and network.

Ability to Execute x Potential = Outcome

@samudesosa I don’t hate the idea of blockchain, I hate the ecological impacts.

There are other open protocols (email, RSS, http) that have far smaller footprints.

(We can’t trade one problem for another. If we don’t have a 🌍, none of this matters)

@DanielZarick I'm just surprised how often folks don't go beyond the default styles.

Seems like a huge opportunity for a designer/dev to come along and really make them look 💯

@r00k @tylertringas A few critiques of PG here.😉

1. "Schlep" is in the eye of the beholder.
2. Aren't we all schleps compared to the Collison brothers?

But this feels true:

"Don't seek out unpleasant work per se, but don't shrink from it if it's on the path to something great."

@Shpigford Not everything that can be created, should be created.

I’m from Alberta. There, the existence tar sands are a “nuanced topic, with lots of complexity” (jobs, historic ties, etc).

But we already knew, from the beginning, that the project would be a net negative for humanity.

@chriswallace @punchlinecopy I understand this argument. The problem with saying “it’s a small %” is it ignores:

- how that % will grow over time (as the trend increases)
- the need to pull back on all extraneous energy use (flights, Bitcoin, beef, etc)
- old transaction tech (USD) is far more efficient

Also @ianlandsman:

"At the time, this idea ('long slow SaaS ramp') was especially helpful for founders who had previously sold installable software, where you get the revenue up-front. We weren't used to revenue taking so long to scale."

@asmartbear Interesting, because I often see “long, slow, SaaS ramp of death” invoked when folks have just started their biz.

@robwalling @ianlandsman I’m still confused: why are we using a model/metaphor for indie bootstrappers that came from a public corp building SaaS in early 2000s, who needed $21 million in capital to reach profitability?

I think it’s ok to question the underlying assumptions there. 😉

@jasonfried @JordanGal @CasJam I agree, but I think Clubhouse is even more exclusionary:

You need both headphones in. It's very "active." There's no pause, no mute, no rewind.

YouTube playing in the background still allows for some family interaction.

But an app that doesn't allow you to pause/mute? 🙅‍♂️

I need to re-write that article ☝️ ("The Main Thing").

It's not so much about finding "THE ONE THING" but more about finding the products that get most of the value ($) in a category.

(And ignoring the products that get very little $ in the value stack)

Look for opportunities where there’s evidence of existing momentum/behavior.

(Don’t try to build something where you need to go from 0 awareness to 1)

People should already be doing *something* about the problem you're tackling.

There should be some "evidence of demand."

- cultivating great friendships
- sorting out my inner self. Figuring out what I want, personally (not just in business)

@PhillipChaffee @m1guelpf The worst belief was I was thinking “like a preacher, not a scientist” (@AdamMGrant).

I believed that I had (ideologically) figured things out. I wasn’t open to having my worldview challenged; I believed that my worldview was “god’s worldview” and that meant it was right.

@VovaZk Every journey is different; your struggle is likely different than mine.

(Have you tried multiple therapists?)

Another thing that really helped was @JamesClear’s philosophy:

“Every (daily) action you take is a vote for the person you’ll become.”

@amorriscode For me, the pathway has involved therapy (and most recently hypnotherapy).

I wish I’d done this work throughout my 20s and 30s.

Strong entrenched ideology in my 20s had a negative impact.

With podcasts, if I’m listening and doing dishes, I can easily pause if someone asks me a question.
