@corey_gwin I always think of this more in terms of:

“How you think your customers act.”

“How they really act.”

@JoshuaPDawson Great story! Incredible to see how (for many people, including me) our “big breaks” come when folks give us a chance.

Maybe this is all we can do.

Happy to chime in on this. I have lots of opinions. 😉

@JamesClear What does this look like?

Is a “performance-based” signal something like a vlogger with millions of subscribers?

@cnu @marckohlbrugge @levelsio @ajlkn For me, as a meetup coordinator, I need the price-point to be a "no-brainer" so that I just don't think about it.

$19 / year / per group feels fair enough.

How is going through this modal/options/panel hell better than editing straight HTML?

I remember being so shaken when I heard that story.

What causes an individual to respond with such violence and vitriol?

But it didn't matter. There was no reasoning with the angry man.

He continued to escalate.

And then he punched Colin in the face and walked away.

Colin opened his window, and the man started yelling at him. He was upset about something. It might have been about how Colin was parked; I can't remember.

Colin was shaken but was trying to resolve the dispute with kindness.

@petebray In a way, but in another sense their supply is the same.

A single Cirque act schedules their shows very much like Jerry schedules his.

There, they were faced with a choice:

"Which smartphone do I want to buy?"

Here, the marketing, product, and positioning decisions of companies *did* have sway.

For example: "If you're this type of person, you'll want an iPhone."

Maybe it's better to think about the demand for individual product categories.

@keithdevon My advice is to start with a trailer episode.

It will help get you started, but it's only a few minutes long.

Plus: it will force you to put something out into the world!

Then, you can see how people respond to it: do they subscribe? Do they tell their friends?

@conorgil @TransistorFM Suggestion for you:

Upload a "Trailer" episode for your podcast (in your case, schedule it for before June 6). Make it a 30 second to 3 minutes intro to your show. This is easily shareable and gives people an idea of whether they want to subscribe.

@davidscolgan Yes. It gets more complicated as your following grows, however.

On one hand, you want to be able to publicize your "new thing" to your existing audience, because they'll help with word-of-mouth, referrals, and they'll likely be your first customers.

@mubashariqbal Far more likely to go into a market with no competition and discover there is actually no demand (and then fail).

You’re almost always going up an incumbent.

Sometimes the competitor is adjacent (Blockbuster / Netflix) and sometimes it’s direct (MailChimp / ConvertKit)

@Aazarshad @hnshah Podcasting is the best way I’ve found to build trust with an audience.

But it’s not for everyone.

If writing or video is your thing, do that!

However, regardless of the medium you choose, you’re going to need to stand out.
