The feeling of "exasperated adrenaline" that we experience after we've had a busy day at the office isn't healthy, or sustainable.

If your head is spinning every evening when you get off work, you need to slow down.

Often, we mistake the feeling of being wildly busy with being in “flow.”

“Whoa! This day went by quick! Tons of meetings, client requests, projects, podcast interviews… I hardly had time to check my email!”

Sailing on calm seas is better than being tossed around by waves. ⛵️

In business, it’s ok to slow everything down:

You don’t need to make every decision right now.

You don’t need to complete every task on your list.

You don’t need to say yes to every meeting.

It’s OK to have space in your day where you don’t do anything.

Just sit. Breathe.

“Couples therapy for founders”

The vulnerability that @danshipper and @nbashaw show on this episode (as founders, and more importantly, as humans) is really inspiring.

This episode, they bring their actual therapist into the discussion:

@m1guelpf @ianlandsman @Shpigford I understand what you're saying.

I can tell you I've spent full-days doing research, engaging in Discords, asking questions, running experiments, seeking to find truth...

Only to have folks on here (many of whom I like!) be incredibly dismissive of legitimate concerns.

What would a good act of critical thinking (with regards to web3) look like for you?

Is there a particular example that comes to mind?

@Shpigford No, I'm just trying to find common ground.

Is there a place for critical thinking in web3?

Thoughtfully evaluating information, and discussing it publicly (even when it might not match up with current beliefs?).

I can assure you, all of my tantrums are backed by a lot of research. 😉

Most of a startup’s growth is determined by the market itself.

Hard work, good product, and good marketing are necessary but not sufficient on their own.

Your product needs a strong, existing, undercurrent of desire.

With new startup idea, you should have a general sense of how big the market is (and how fast it’s growing).

Try to get a sense of whether your market meets a min floor of potential (is this market big enough?), and also what the ceiling is likely to be (how big could we grow?).

Big tech companies say they care about podcasting.

But, in reality, it's the *small* independent companies and devs who really care. ❤️

Many of these tech companies, with billion/trillion-dollar market caps, generate tons of customers support for small indies. https://twitter.com/marcoarment/status/1483455612419719172

If you started a company to build a better life for yourself, be honest about:

- which biz stuff pulls me away from my family & personal life?
- what consistently causes me stress?
- which tasks drain me?
- does this biz have enough traction to give me the $ and margin I desire?

Unbelievably grateful for this company, our customers, and my partnership with @jonbuda.

It's been seriously life-changing for both of us. 💯

My commute is what pushed me to look for remote work.

At the time, I couldn’t afford a family home close to downtown in the big city (anything cycling distance was too expensive).

Moved to a ski town in BC and got mountains + lakes, plus I could afford a home close to downtown.

For me, this is the ultimate setup:

🔥 Remote work, but at a coworking office

Since 2012, I’ve shared an office close to my house, and walk there every day.

✅ No car commute
✅ Daily exercise
✅ Work with friends
✅ No ppl looking over my shoulder
✅ No office politics

At Transistor, we were using Loom for sending screen recordings to customers and team members.

We switched to @ZipMessage last month and I’m glad we did. Really great product.

Having the ability to post videos back and forth is so helpful; much easier to clarify a point.
