@philipbrown When a brand is new, I recommend succinctly describing what your software is/does in your H1.

(Help people immediately answer: "what does this do? who is it for?")

It's also better for SEO.

A few ideas:

1. Add customer testimonials (with faces!) to that page
2. Record video: show how you install it, use it.
3. Add links of sites already using it

@coreyhainesco Your headline is "build a swipe file you'll actually use."

Next step: record videos of you (and others) using swipe files! Show us how experienced marketers are using them.

This could make a great YouTube series: "Show me your swipe file."

@Swizec I would change your H1 from a question ("Want to become a true senior engineer?") to a definitive action ("Learn how to become a Senior Engineer").

I would also add an H2 that describes more of the reasons people want to become senior engineers.

@r00k 💯 I think I’ve done at least 50+ videos for @TransistorFM with my office as a backdrop.

I’ve also had a handful of requests from “sweet setup” type sites to show off my (currently not great) workspace.

Investing in a sweet desk setup for anyone public facing is worth it.

In a remote-first world, having a nice-looking workstation is the equivalent of having a nice office you invite clients to.

Even if folks only see photos on the web, your setup can reflect a certain quality to potential customers (and your audience).

It feels like tech is still heavily dominated by folks in their 20s-40s.

The holy grail in mindshare marketing is when a group identifies closely with your product:

"People like us, use a product like this"

For example:

"Solopreneurs like us, use an ESP like @Convertkit"
"Programmers who podcast use @transistorfm"
"IG influencers prefer Linktree"

Mindshare is a function of:

1. How often do users and fans recommend your product
2. How often your product shows up when folks search "best [your category]"
3. How often your product is mentioned in newsletters, podcasts, etc
4. How aware people are of your story/brand

I know business partners can cause stress + strife, but my experience with @jonbuda has been the opposite.

Teaming up with someone who has different skills has been a force multiplier.

As a two-person startup, we were able to compete with teams of 20. (Today, we have 4 people).

In my experience, here are things that reduce the stress in a business, and improve a founder's quality of life:

1. Build something that people are already searching + paying for.
2. Build stuff that's easy to maintain.
3. Keep your payroll small.
4. Keep expenses low.

It's worth exploring how you might "judo" business.

If people are saying it takes 80 hours/week to build a startup, how could you "judo" your startup so that it only takes 35?

If people are saying "running a startup is stressful," how could you "judo" your startup so it's calm?

Instead of saying "Running a business is really hard," ask "What would it look like if this was easy? Calm? Profitable?"

Some types of businesses will be hard to run, no matter what.

But there are other business opportunities that provide incredible life-giving margins.

"Running a business is really hard. It's a grind. It's long hours. It's lots of additional stress. It’s freaking exhausting."

But what if you flipped the script? 👉

Most marketing problems can be solved with a qualitative approach OR a quantitative approach; and both can be equally successful!

Some marketers are guided by their intuition, and others are guided by datapoints.

Some folks are long-term planners; others are more in the moment.
