@alexpcoleman very wary. Recently Moz + Treehouse + Buffer had to fire people to get to profitability. It’s never “all in this together.”

3. Founders: please quit describing your company as "a family."

It inspires the notion that you'll take care of people "no matter what."

2. If you're spending your own time + resources helping your employer, you're not an employee; you're an investor.

1. I'm wary of startups that encourage employees to spend personal time advancing company goals.

Not everyone uses FB Events, but for certain segments of society it's HUGE.

- neighborhood BBQs
- charity events
- birthday parties

Legacy platforms have an advantage when a sizable percentage of the population uses them. Very hard to change societal habits.

"Vendor lock-in" is an interesting concept.

Many people would love to leave Facebook, but can't because they don't want to miss events.

For example, my analytics setup is *never* as perfect as I’d like it to be. Same with drip sequences. What helps? Just ship what you have.

Saying “it’s not perfect” and not shipping = no forward movement.

Saying “I’ll ship what I have + improve it tomorrow” = constant progress.
