@elof I’m pretty small potatoes. I usually start with tiniest possible solution for a problem, and go from there. ex:
- Excel
- Zapier
- App

- what their #1 problem is
- how they’re solving that problem now

I think SaaS is a great business model. I have equity in SaaS businesses.

But MRR ≠ unicorns + rainbows.

Know what you're getting into!

Until you see the hard side of SaaS first-hand (DoS, servers going down Sat. at 1am, ramp of death) it's hard to know if it's right for you.

I might have been a bit strong here, but generally my advice is:

"Before you start a SaaS, work for a SaaS."

@nbashaw also, being able to add audiobook + special podcast RSS feed for @joltbook provides additional utility I couldn’t do on Amazon.

@nbashaw it’s all in the name of helping users (readers) reach their destination.

@nbashaw for example. While @joltbook uses “traditional” PDF, ePub, and Mobi, the drip emails I send after purchase provide additional stuff
