Forget "Net Promoter Score."

The best way to know if you have product/market fit is to take your app offline for 15 minutes and see how many people complain...

Things that bug me about some of the email newsletters I've been getting:

1. Typeface is too small, and almost always Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif.
2. The first few lines don't remind me: "Who are you? What does your product do again?"

Ok. I just had the most pleasant experience with an ISP I've ever had. 😮

Margaret at @TELUSsupport listened to my billing problem, BELIEVED ME, credited my account, and fixed everything. 👍

@Telus, give Margaret a raise. 🙌

Are you a solopreneur struggling to make sales?

Questions to ask: yourself:

- Is it your product/service? Do people not want it?
- Is it your marketing/design? Is your product not attractive enough?
- Is it your customer? Do you need to target a customer who is more motivated?

listening to the Creepy Pasta episode right now with @stuffmartysaid.

He's been into CP for a long time; I never understood it!

(@KarenUnland, I too do not like creepy, scary, things. I still get nightmares from the Dark Crystal)

@paulredmond Yes. I like those too. What's nice about Sketch (and other licenses like that, @gravityforms, etc...) is that you have the choice: you can continue using the software forever, but if you want upgrades + support you need to pay.

(Incidentally, I also use Transmit FTP, Screenflow, and Deckset almost daily as well. They're not SaaS. I happily pay for new version upgrades if I feel I need the new improvements).

Infamously, I am still using Adobe Fireworks CS5 (2010).

I use it every day, but I can’t imagine paying monthly for it. I grew up buying desktop software, and it *feels* insane to pay for it as a subscription. 😉

Also, do you remember 405?

Released in 2000. Arguably the first viral short created. (Rendered on a Pentium III!)

Who remembers iFilm? Dang I loved that site. '97, '98, '99. The original home for viral video.

Anyway, I'm writing about it in my next newsletter: http://justinjackson.ca/newsletter

Currently, Canada's corporate income tax rate is LOWER than the USA.

It's also easy to set up a USD bank account inside of Canada.

Why should a startup's head office be in NYC, or San Francisco?

@JustinTrudeau A startup's founders might be from Canada, US, Germany, India...

Currently really difficult to figure out where to incorporate + how income tax works.

Tons of restrictions and red tape in the USA currently. Canada could have a competitive advantage.

Innovation idea for 🇨🇦 and @JustinTrudeau:

Make Canada the easiest place in the world to incorporate a startup with international co-founders. Simplify the taxation, banking, and reporting.
