Really, we're trying to answer two questions:

1. What's the purpose of my work?
2. What's the best way to sustain it?

Is our ultimate goal in life *really* to make software, have a big exit, be a bootstrapper, etc...?

If we're not careful, we could easily miss our deeper "raison d'être."

When we get consumed by "which label best fits us," we lose sight of our underlying purpose.

What's really driving us? What are we trying to accomplish? Why?

We're way too caught up with labels:

"I'm a founder."
"I'm a solopreneur."
"I'm a bootstrapper."
"I'm building VC-backed startups."
"I'm not bootstrapping, I'm self-funding."
"I'm a product person" "I'm a maker" "I'm a creator"

What's underneath that? What's this work for?

Example. For @MikeMichalowicz's "Profit First," you'll need 5 accounts:

1. Profit — Savings account
2. Owner’s Pay — Savings account
3. Tax — Savings account
4. Operating — Checking account

@levelsio Gotcha. In that case, Basecamp still applies. They did a private sale of shares to Bezos, but none of that money went to fund the business.

(Similar to selling a car or house privately)
