@ianlandsman It’s down a bit, but it really depends on the topic.

My guess is this applies to all types of media: some topics are up and some are down.

@YMarie113 @Shopify @Square @WooCommerce In retail, “buying clubs” and “buying associations” are already a thing: retailers band together and buy as a group, increasing their leverage and helping them all get a wholesale discount.

Power of the internet: I put an idea out in public. Within a few hours, I've received 4-5 DMs from people working on solutions here. 💪

Encouraged to hear from folks already in motion working on solutions for local businesses. 🙌 https://twitter.com/mijustin/status/1243649515837521921

@nathanbarry Yes! That's the other benefit.

I've often said, even if no one was listening, I'd still want to do @buildyoursaas with @jonbuda.

Just having someone to process things with (out loud) is 💯.

Podcasting has many ancillary emotional benefits. 😄

Honestly, listening to podcasts is getting me through this.

Hearing familiar voices, and how people are processing our current situation, is calming for me.

Thank you podcasters. ❤️

I’ve been thinking a lot about “double-enders,” but for video: where both sides have the same camera + lens and can record their scenes locally to be mashed up in editing.

@ratiovernon @vivsavage We need to be thinking about *what kind of world* we want to rebuild when this is over.

The world I want to live in has incredible coffee shops, restaurants, and thriving independent businesses. A sense of community.

I’d be happy to see big corporate greed and destruction gone.

These Main Street shops saw their businesses destroyed, almost overnight.

If we can do anything to make their lives easier + better, we should!

(Isn’t that the primary mandate of UX?)

@curtismchale Many are shell shocked.

It’s such a huge wave of grief for them.

Hard for them to “pull up their bootstraps” when they’ve already seen so much of their biz disappear.

@dougblackjr - DM them and ask them how they’re feeling
- buy takeout / online orders if you can
- write your elected officials asking for loans / grants / relief for small biz

@Frostbitee08 Does it integrate with Square?

That’s a base necessity right now because otherwise these small shops need to run separate platforms.

I'm especially frustrated because I'm seeing what small shops are up against.

I'm technical, and I can barely figure out how to get these ecommerce platforms working (while keeping it affordable).

Any help tech giants provide can give small biz a better chance of surviving. 🙏

@abadir_ @Square Ok. But it's not as simple as "just use Stripe;" you still need some sort of e-commerce platform.

I realize I might sound harsh, but in the past week I've tried helping 5+ local retailers move their business online, and each of these items is another piece that discourages store owners and makes them want to quit.

Fixing the checkout UI + free domain connection feels doable.
