@leif @crashdev So how much did you “pay” to be a part of it? Is it a % of equity? Or does the program cost something?

@staydecent Gotcha.

How did it differ from being a part of an online community? (Forums, Slack chats, etc…)

@leif Why did you originally “need” them?

Was it primarily the $16k investment?

How much did their mentorship + additional resources play into it?

@_rchase_ @wardsandler Yes, that’s interesting to me.

I wish we had some @megamaker members who were also in Earnest so we could get a comparison between the two.

A lot of the benefits seem to be things MegaMaker offers (or has offered in the past).

Question: what tangible benefit do startup incubators/accelerators provide?

Have any of my followers really benefitted from one? In what ways?

@CasJam Apple has been ridiculously slow in updating lately.

Their new official response is that it takes "up to 24 hours" for an episode to appear in Apple Podcasts (mobile, desktop, web).

(Is that a business expense?)

I don't know how full-time salespeople do it.

At @TransistorFM today, I had three back-to-back Zoom calls and now I need to go nap for a week.

@StephenWilson There are tons of companies that make decks (some of which feature pretty awful misogynistic graphics).

Some cool deck companies to check out:
- @WELCOMEsk8brds
- Almost
- Element
- Polar

@StephenWilson Ok, generally there are two ways to buy a skateboard:

A) as a “complete” (deck, trucks, bearings, wheels, grip tape - all pre-assembled)

B) custom build where you choose each component (or, choose a deck you like and get your local shop to recommend trucks, wheels, etc)

@patrickbjohnson A rant during a concert is one thing, but so much *good music* is political:

- Rage Against the Machine
- Green Day
- Beastie Boys
- Black Sabbath
- Even Iron Maiden has protest songs!

Also, the "stay in your lane" rhetoric is a convenient way for us capitalists to ignore the problems in our current system:

✍️ "Let's talk about raising workers' wages."
🤡 "Stay in your lane dude!"

🎙️ "We're destroying the environment."
🤡 "Stay in your lane dude!"

Bands face this all the time:

"You used to sing about going to high school and partying! Now you just sing about global warming. Go back to the old stuff!"

Again, if grown adults want to keep singing songs about being teenagers that's fine.

But it's also OK to grow.

This gets to the core issue:

Do you want "pop music" ("I just want the artist to make the same kind of music over and over again") or do you want the artist to explore new genres and topics that interest them now?

Neither is "bad;" it's a personal consumer preference.

@PaulDMendoza If you only want the “how to build a SaaS” content, that only happens once (for us, Feb 2018 - July 2019). It’s built.

Now, it’s about us sharing our current journey. That includes the whole person.

For the podcast, we know that will mean less listeners. We’re ok with that.

Please note, “bringing our whole selves” to the conversation doesn’t give us license to be:

- rude
- careless
- offensive
- obnoxious
- inconsiderate
- discriminatory

It’s the opposite! We have to be more considerate, more kind, more thoughtful.

I started a business so that I could be more meaningfully involved with my community, family, and environment.

Business is a means to an end. It's a tool humans invented so we could have better lives.

Why not talk about what that "better life" could look like?

Business is profoundly affected by the outside world.

Politics, natural disasters (and our response to them), economies, societal beliefs: all of these things affect markets.

So if you're a "business person," you should care about things not related purely to business.
