@chriscantino @Mr_DannySingh @TwitterSpaces I love all of these ☝️

Especially the distinction between “tipping” and “tickets:”

- Tipping is for real-time rewards (“I love what you’re saying! I’m going to give you a $ tip”)

- Tickets is for pre-selling access to an event (“I’m a fan, and I’ll attend your event)

@ashabed Building the marketing site for https://transistor.fm was my first big web-dev project that I undertook by myself.

It's built on @statamic, so I'm not doing a lot of actual PHP dev – but it definitely set me up so I feel like I could do more PHP stuff.

I'm still not entirely sure what crowd equity investors "get" for their investment. 🤔

Do they get shares?
How do they get a liquidity event?

Has "crowdfunding equity" just gone mainstream?

I've now seen multiple companies raise ~$1 million on these platforms.

(Previously, it seemed like crowdfund raises were relatively small. $100k-$300k)

@mronge @mynameis_davis @jdnoc The Prosumer category has always had elements of B2B and B2C. It’s the category in the middle.

B2C can be challenging, but B2Prosumer can be quite lucrative.

(And with the creator economy growing, it’s only going to get bigger)

@breakfastbybill @theandreboso My prediction: Twitter makes it a feature (@TwitterSpaces) and engagement on Clubhouse goes way down.

Eventually... people will get bored of being in live audio rooms all the time.

The feature will persist, but not as hyped as it currently is.

@CaseyNewton Except there always seems to be 3-4 rooms about “how to start a podcast” going at all times. 😜

I’m still not convinced that social audio will replace (or significantly reduce) podcast listening/creation.

It’s less “audio entertainment” and more “networking/social event.”

There’s nothing wrong with getting excited about a new platform.

Every growing platform provides opportunities for participants (while the window is open).

Vine is dead, but it launched many careers.

So take advantage of it! (But realize, it probably won’t last forever)

I think audio spaces are probably here to stay.

But enthusiasm for them will definitely wane.

After a few months, users will reduce their usage.

(Dedicating 2-6 hours a day to be in audio rooms isn’t sustainable for most folks)

Attributes of the Clubhouse format that could make it difficult to sustain long-term:

- the quality of a room depends on its participants and who gets to speak (difficult to maintain)
- the best live streamers have to commit long hours every day to get engagement (many burn out)

While it’s true that these platforms give folks the opportunity to break out, and be discovered...

That’s what Clubhouse feels like it’s missing to me.

It’s magical when you catch a smart (well moderated) conversation, but often this means returning to old formats (a host who keeps things going, limits people’s speaking time, etc)

@__tosh My experience on Clubhouse is just different I guess?

I’ve found 95% of rooms very low signal, lots of noise.

Every time you bring a new speaker on stage there’s a huge risk for more noise.

A few rooms *have* been magical; but it’s rare.
