@BobbiMenard 💯

I don’t mind paying taxes; but governments (around the world) need to make it way simpler.

Small businesses create employment, drive innovation, and provide tax income, all things governments want. We're doing a lot for the economy!

But too often, governments make it harder to run a business. They impose rules, bureaucracy, and expectations that overburden SMBs.

Building a business should be fun.

(It's one of the main motivations for entrepreneurs: we like building businesses.)

If there's too much stress/pain, there's less motivation to run a business.

Governments should do more to reduce the pain of starting and running a business.

"Controversy is guaranteed to draw attention."

This makes me sad.

Posts created purposely to bait people and generate arguments... ugh.

Conversely, some topics ARE controversial and should be discussed, but are cynically labeled as "engagement farming."

He regularly makes suggestions for bits, music, and segments that make it into the show. 💯

For the last six years, I’ve hired an editor (@iChris) to transform my audio recordings into finished podcast episodes.

Working with Chris has reduced my stress and made podcasting more fun. All I have to do is show up, record, and send him my files.

Highly recommended. 👍

@adamwathan Also, as someone who's had businesses in both countries since 2018, I haven't found the USA to be more friendly to business owners!

(Section 174 is a good example: an absolutely horrendous policy that makes me want to move my US business to Canada)

Corp tax rates are similar.

@adamwathan There are a few different paths you can take.

One is the US “Permanent Residence by Investment” program (EB-5).

There are also the E-2 visas:

E-2 Visa for Canadians Buying an Existing U.S. Business
E-2 Visa for Canadians Starting a New U.S. Business

@mattwensing @usesummit I want to model things like:

- What happens if we hire another employee this year? (How will subsequent years and raises for all employees affect cash flow?)

- How will our cash flow look…

@nathanjpowellUX I think every era has its challenges:

Early on, you couldn’t accept credit cards easily, build using cloud infrastructure, and or use good frameworks (Tailwind, Rails, Laravel, etc).

The biggest challenge today is finding good acquisition channels. Also: more competition.

To me podcasts (and blogs) distinguish themselves from other forms of media as being more mindful and meaningful.
