@TheCustomerGuy I know that's the trope.

But I've run a B2P SaaS (with many hobbyist consumers) since 2018 and haven't found that true.

@johnnytong Those tropes aren't universally true.

Here's what is universally true:

- The market you choose determines most of your outcome
- You're looking for an opportunity with high sales volume. That could come from 5,000 customers or 500. The regular inflow of $ is what matters.

“Don’t do B2C.”
“Low pricing means customer support nightmares.”
“It’s really hard to get 5,000 customers; better to pursue a biz model that only needs 500.”

None of these tropes are universally true, and more importantly, might not be true for you!

@earthlingworks Every market has a ceiling. Every market has a “carrying capacity.”

You can have product-market fit, but the market might be small.

@Career_Strat @arvidkahl @hackersincpod @adamwathan I'd be curious to see that research. 👍

The only research I could find was here:

They came to this conclusion:

"Traditionally, interviews have not been valid predictors of success on the job."

This is exactly my point: existing relationships (following…

“I’ve been in markets that are growing 20% year over year.

And those shrinking 10% annually.

The latter are so brutal as you are cutting your way to success or finding it nearly impossible to grow, I’m at a point where I actively avoid them.” https://twitter.com/girdley/status/1794380908197302482

@FrankieStyless @TransistorFM Hey! We're pretty affordable, depending on what you need to do.

For $19/month (or $190/year), you can start as many podcasts as you want on a single account. Most competitors charge you an additional monthly fee for every new podcast.

It also includes live customer support, a…

It's been way too long since @adamwathan and I caught up.

One of my favorite thinkers + doers.

We chatted about the results of @tailwindcss' recent hiring process. Had some pretty big takeaways for small teams!

(With any luck, this will be published on @hackersincpod soon)

The layout of the dashboard, and the way you can quickly click through to get more detail is really well done.

Performance-wise, it’s fast.

Example 2:

Once you decide to start an email newsletter, you're in motion, hurtling down the river.

Your next decision is: @mailchimp or @ConvertKit?

If ConvertKit promotes how many creators use their product, that might convince you to choose them.

That's marketing!

For example, every small business needs accounting software.

Shortly after a business starts, they're in motion, deciding between Quickbooks and XERO.

The job of a marketing department is to convince customers to check out their product at that point in time.

Good marketing harnesses existing customer momentum and directs that energy toward your product.

They're already in motion, hurtling down the river.

Your marketing should convince them to go right instead of left.

- have many attempts
- curious / want to learn
- seek out help /…
