It's arguable that with $500 million, Spotify could buy the ENTIRE podcast industry.

- every production company
- most of the smaller podcast players

$500M is a huge amount of money for the tiny podcast industry.

First thoughts:

If I was Gimlet, I'd be knocking on Apple's door to get a competing offer.

Why?

Apple is launching a streaming TV service.

Apple needs content IP for original TV shows and movies (to compete with Netflix). Gimlet has this!

👨‍💻 Someone write a script / create a WordPress plugin to migrate a WordPress site from a managed host to a @laravelforge server.

🤦‍♂️ Yes, there tons of blog posts and existing plugins that do this. I just want something that's painless.

But, like domain names, Twitter handles, etc... you kind of have to "stake your claim."

In 2015, @jasonfried & @dhh introduced the idea of "Work can wait" to the corporate world. The idea was that coworkers shouldn't be able to ping you at all hours.

I'd like to see the same philosophy come to the iPhone: "Your phone can sleep."

Help us limit usage.

Apple is better poised than Google to make this shift.

Google's biz model depends on engagement. More views = more ads.

Apple makes money selling their physical products. Making those products less addictive, and giving users better mental health, could increase sales.

☝️ Profitable products don’t start as ideas.

They start when you observe an unmet desire in the market.
