@_will_archer It’s a good question!

A few thoughts:

1. The “new model” (Anchor’s ad marketplace) has yet to prove that it can attract those advertisers.

2. Do podcasters want those kinds of ads on their shows?

3. Do listeners want those types of ads on the podcasts they listen to?

@billbarol saw your podcasting tweet. Happy to help if you need it!

I originally self-hosted everything, and found that it ended up being:

a) more expensive
b) more difficult

than an all-in-one solution. (Especially when I needed to ad statistics to my stack)

@eddieaich @SaraSoueidan I did!

The thrust of the whole piece is that he feels that Tailwind isn’t the future (and by extension, shouldn’t have a future?)

Most of his rationale comes down to stylistic preferences.

I think it has a bright future; and my guess is adoption will continue to increase.

@brent_bellamy @sontek I didn’t say I worked from home. 😉

“Remote work” = flexible work

Remote work allowed me to move from Stony Plain, AB (where I had 2 hours of commuting every day) to Vernon, BC where I started a coworking office downtown (5 minute bike ride from my house).

I’ve lost 15 lbs.

@sontek @brent_bellamy I agree that remote school isn’t ideal (here in Vernon, our kids have continued to be able to attend public school).

But many parents I talk to have said they’ve enjoyed *homeschooling* (teaching their kids themselves).

But, yes: many people (including me!) enjoy many of these things. I’ve been working remote since 2012 and love it.

Brent: I’m way more physically active since ditching my commute.

Worst with Spotify.

@erwblo I’m comparing monthly volume x unit earnings:

@nickbona A landlord doesn’t have to rent to Nazis.

A printing press doesn’t have to print Mein Kampf.

The scale of companies like Amazon is a problem, which needs to be addressed (perhaps by breaking them up).

But we need to give private businesses the choice to not serve hate groups.

If you want governments to control and regulate big media platforms as “public utilities,” how big is “big?”

Should the NYT be the next public utility? (They allow public comments, just like Twitter)

@dbchhbr Fine: “government controlled utility.”

So, you want to fight censorship by giving a central government control over the big social media platforms?

(Personally, I’m more afraid of citizens being censored by the government)

@dbchhbr I’m worried.

If we get a demagogue as president, and they then also have control of the world’s most powerful social media platforms...

Making Twitter a “Government controlled utility” seems awfully close to “authoritarian state-controlled media.”
