@jeangabcrevier @plehoux @a13n @sarahhum @frankhellend The purpose of SRED and IRAP is specifically to foster more R&D and create new innovation in Canada.

It's not meant as startup funding.

Building a traditional CRUD SaaS, expanding into the US, or being able to "burn more capital" wouldn't be covered under SRED or IRAP.

I want to see other attributes as well: does this person seem secure, friendly, and curious?

Do they look like a self-starter? Can they manage themselves? Are they good a problem solving?

Most of the employee positioning I see is too generic and doesn't specifically answer the question:

"How are you (the applicant) going to solve the business’ problems?"

Show that you have the skills to solve the real challenges/problems/needs the business has.

Do any of these work better?

@julian_rubisch The rubric seems to apply to all types of ideas: cultural, philosophical, ethical, business, relational, and political.

Bad ideas are lazy, lack context, and lack nuance. They crumble when any sort of rigorous analysis is applied.

Ultimately, bad ideas lead to bad outcomes.

At the @TransistorFM retreat, we explored the question, "Why do we build new features?" Our reasons:

▪ improve the experience of existing customers,
▪ attract new customers or new revenue,
▪ improve our experience as team members,
▪ be fun/interesting for us to work on.
