This is why I'm bullish on Apple's new streaming service. If they can bundle everything together, in one attractive price, they'll have an edge over their competitors (Spotify, Netflix, etc...)

Competing with Netflix's original content will by tricky, but not impossible.

🤔 Also, is Anchor calculating these averages "per show" or just using their total numbers for their whole platform?

In that case, one show could be overrepresenting Spotify.

Still, besides a few outliers, on http://Transistor.fm we're not seeing Spotify numbers hit 19% (like Anchor is seeing).

Other friends I have in the business say Spotify is generally 5%-10% for them.

One exception: one of our shows has 87% of its listens coming from Spotify.

BUT... I have strong suspicion that a lot of those listens are coming from keyword error.

Meaning: folks are searching for *music* and mistakingly think the podcast is a playlist / album / song.

On @HardcoreHistory, Dan illustrates the truth about going from "idea to reality."

Even when you've considered every theoretical angle, it's the chaos of reality that rules supreme.
