Over years, your marketing efforts accumulate, but they also “cross-pollinate” — one audience/channel can amplify another.

For example: if you build a 1,000 subscriber mailing list, it’s easier to launch a YouTube channel, do a Product Hunt launch, etc…

Using a no-code tool like @meepsapp you can get people to pay for early access to your SaaS, fill out a profile, invite them to Slack or Discord, and send them email updates.

(I think it's the best way to launch a startup)

It’s going to be the hub that creators own. Then, they can choose to link out to other platforms: Discord, Slack, etc.

Indie creators / podcasters will continue to rely on the two channels they’ve always used to grow their audiences:

- Word of mouth
- Doing arbitrage on bigger platforms

If the pressure of "finding a good market" feels overwhelming, focus on what you can control:

- learn to recognize the size & shape of good business opportunities
- get out of your bubble and explore different industries (contractor or employee)
- make connections
- build skills

Nobody can really give you that list.

It has to come from your experience, your insights, your understanding of that market.

The only way to find a good market, that's a good fit for you personally, is to explore.

Working in an industry that doesn't seem to be going anywhere? Move on as quickly as you can.

I worked in the non-profit sector for years. I was unhappy, but was scared to make a move!

When I finally made the jump to tech, tons of opportunities opened up.

Fight that inertia 💪

What's curious: there's lots of interest for bootstrapped SaaS making $0-$50k MRR, but less after that.

Just harder to buy/sell once you're $50k MRR+.

Simple is better for creators: it means they own the connection with their audience.

Sole-proprietors generally don’t have paystubs.

If you have a Corp, you want to keep as much money in the company (which usually means a smaller salary on paper). Also: dividends are often not counted as income by banks.

But for products it’s more nuanced. Most categories already have an anchor price, and charging too much more drives away customers.
