My guess is that Salesforce succeeded because sales teams are very hierarchical.

There's a clear team team leader who makes decisions.

Attention is a currency but it doesn't always translate into dollars.

Being lucky isn’t scalable.

(But it does give you a good starting platform)

2. A big splashy launch on Product Hunt / TechCrunch doesn't always translate to success...

Your idea might be "cool" but not useful.

Prediction: adding "flair" to your AirPods will become a thing. Just watch.

Personally what makes me upgrade is the camera. I upgraded last year to the iPhone 6s 128 GB for a better camera experience.
