@joelgascoigne @ThisIsSethsBlog I’m glad there are smart people still openly questioning the utility + societal value of NFTs.

I’m not opposed to NFTs having a future in society, but there are still many unanswered questions as to whether they’re truly a “good thing” for the planet, for artists, and for owners

@chriscantino I think it’s ok to critique some of the underlying structure and incentives in VC (especially considering the scale of tech, and its influence on the modern world).

It’s also reasonable to critique VCs by their own rhetoric (what they say they’ll do, vs their actions)

We can see the benefits of forethought in urban design:

Given how disruptive this tech can be for society (and, the ecological environment), shouldn’t we be more mindful about it?

Should we carefully consider the pillars we’re putting in place now, given that they’ll be the foundation for the future?

@ianlandsman In the midst of the climate crisis, every emerging tech needs to be evaluated.

Before we commit to a wholesale, worldwide shift to our economic system, we should ensure we're not committing ourselves untenable energy demands (climate-wise).

Using greener energy sources for crypto also suffers from the "induced demand" problem.
