By this measure, the only country currently experiencing hyperinflation is Venezuela.

But Venezuela’s inflation is actually down from its peak in February 2019.

Hyperinflation occurs when monthly inflation rate is greater than 50% (yearly equivalent would be 12974.63%).

The USA’s yearly inflation is
5.39%. Canada’s is 4.38%!

We are a long way from “worldwide hyperinflation.” https://twitter.com/jack/status/1451733913961783299

Curious: what kind of code is powering all these auto-generative NFT art projects?

(Randomly applying different layers + colors to create unique cartoon characters)

Is it open-source?

@dylan_hey "Community marketing" is a new one.

Two possible approaches:

1. Leverage existing communities (Indie Hackers, Reddit, etc)

2. Build your own community (using tools like @meepsapp, Discord, Slack, forums)

That startup you think is "killing it" (because of their current hype, funding, strategy, charismatic leader) could collapse in 6 months.

Also: the founder & team could be miserable!

It's the passage of time that reveals "how good" a startup is.

Don't evaluate someone's strategy when they're sowing seeds; measure their results when they're harvesting.

The true test of any idea, opinion, or strategy is longitudinal: measuring the variables that matter over decades.

We often take tactical cues from other people, but you won't know their results until time has passed.

It might seem like a good idea now; but not later.

@pascallaliberte Yes. And now YouTube is introducing background listening.

The alternatives people have matter!

Inertia is powerful. For someone to switch to a different solution, there has to be something compelling about the new solution.

"Voice plan" just doesn't feel like it has it.

@pascallaliberte I think I'm skeptical because I spend a lot of time observing how people buy and consume goods/services.

I haven't observed those kinds of interactions.

What I do observe:

<Loud party> "Hand me your phone so I can search for a song."
"Don't use Siri, I'll just type it in."

@pascallaliberte I think there's a fundamental misunderstanding of consumer behavior here.

If the alternative is Spotify freemium; why would someone switch?

I'm not discounting the skills, connections, experience, resources, creativity, insights, and effort it takes to be successful.

Those are "necessary, but not sufficient."

You need strong, underlying customer demand (like water flowing down a river) to make a business work.

If customers really want something, they'll go to great lengths to get it.

Yes, you have to build a solid product. (This is where execution really matters)

But executing on product is fruitless if there aren't motivated consumers already looking for it.

The more business success stories I read, the more I'm convinced that the *market* is the underlying driver of success.

A founder can make multiple mistakes, bumble, flail, and *still* win if there's strong customer demand.

@GetTheAudience @kentcdodds @zachrip_ @TransistorFM But aren’t you fiddling with system volume no matter what?

Apps, podcasts, music, all have variable volume already; how does having a slider in an individual player help?

Don’t you still need to to adjust system volume despite individual player settings?
