It would definitely mean a lot less tweets, but maybe quality would improve (and trolling would diminish)?

If I was bootstrapping Twitter, I would try:

- Free to follow and read tweets
- Pay to unlock ability to tweet ($5 one time?)
- Pay monthly to unlock premium features: analytics, ability to edit tweets, greater distribution... ($20 / month?)
- App Store for devs (20% cut)

🤔 Let’s say you were creating Twitter, but in 2018.

What business model would you implement from the beginning?

Corp structure (and taxation) is way simpler here.

If you get into an accident, you go to the hospital, and everything else stops while you recover.

Similarly, when your mental health needs attention, we should take a break and take care of ourselves!
