What's worked for me:
- @prodpeopleclub (where I met Hamish, Carl, Tim, Gary)
- XOXO fest (where I met Jon, my partner in Transistor)
- Geek Beers (local meetup)

@bradt I agree. I think my general advice is “you can’t do it alone.”

Folks will need contractors, employees, advisors, partners, etc.

@pupeno I think generally it’s:
- no co-founder
- no employees

(but contractors are ok)

"Time machine" backup service I'd totally pay for:

MacOS scans my hard drive for non-essential files I don't use often and automatically backs them up to the cloud + local backup. Then, it removes them from my SSD.

I'm always battling "Startup disk is almost full" warnings. 😩

I’m not opposed to paying sales tax, I just abhor the administrative burden it puts on small companies.

It feels like collection and remittance should be at the payment processor level (this is something @Gumroad did for VAT and it was hugely helpful).

This is how it works in Canada and it SUCKS for small companies.

Having to:
- register in each province
- charge different customers different tax rates depending on location
- and manually remit sales tax to each province

... is brutal.

Some founders have to make big sacrifices to get their companies off the ground. They should be rewarded for that.

But I've also seen startups who treat early employees like low-paid pawns. They're asked to sacrifice just as much; but without the upside.
