@jonhainstock @statamic I really like it. I'd looked at Middleman a few times.

The big difference is that Middleman is a CLI-driven static site generator.

Statamic has a control panel, editor, interface (flate-file CMS).

Basically, MN was really buggy and had a terrible UX.

@adamwathan @tailwindcss I suppose I could use @CodePen for this, but the animation (from one state to another) is actually really useful for a beginner like me.

@adamwathan Side note: if I could do that in the browser (with a mock text editor), it would make learning @tailwindcss so much faster.

Like having a sandbox where I could just try attributes out and see (live) how they turn out.

1. @pjrvs + @studiofellow just switched to ServerPilot + DO and are really liking it.

2. I'm currently on WPengine and the overage charges (for over 100,000 visits) can get expensive!

@waunakeesoccer1 @statamic Yeah, what's killing me on Flywheel + Wpengine (I used both for different projects) is the 100,000 visit per month overage charges.

Thinking about transferring all my WordPress sites (+1 @statamic site) to Digital Ocean using something like @laravelforge.

For folks who have done this: what's your DO server setup? Can you give me an idea of monthly cost?

4. Events – attending events, and eventually speaking, has been huge for me.

Learn to give a talk! Start speaking publicly!

(It's not as scary as it seems)

3. Twitter – it doesn't work for every audience, but my group (tech folks) hangs out here.

Twitter is a great way to exercise your writing habit.

Also: share what you're working on! Screenshots, updates.

Many folks say they joined my newsletter because they "liked my tweets."

2. Writing – it took years, but eventually, pieces like http://justinjackson.ca/words started resonating.

Again, showing up every week helps.

Write, and publish something, every week.

And remember to at least tell *someone* about it! (Twitter, Facebook, a Slack group, DM a friend)

1. Podcasting – @productpeopletv started with a few listeners, and grew from there.

It really helps to partner with someone who has a big audience or interview folks who have a following.

Showing up every week helps (especially in the 1st year).

Here's how I built an audience:

1. Podcasting
2. Writing
3. Twitter
4. Video
5. Events
6. Projects, products, challenges

Basically, creating stuff, and making it public.
