Palapa seems to bring together some big pieces I've been missing:

- Member profiles! Slack and Discourse have really poor user profiles.
- All-in-one. Right now, we split our community into Slack (short-form, watercooler) and forums (long-form, threaded). Palapa merges both. 👌

In 2013 I launched @megamaker, a private community for bootstrappers.

Since then, I've tried tons of discussion platforms:

- Campfire
- BuddyPress
- bbPress
- P2
- Mightybell
- Discourse
- Slack

None of them have done the job well.
