This is why I use @getRewardful for tracking campaigns: it was built for attributing SaaS revenue in Stripe to specific affiliates.

But instead of using it just for just affiliates, I also use it to track all my marketing campaigns.

It gets even more complicated if you have a free trial.

Google Analytics just wasn’t built for SaaS’s customer lifecycle:

trial, conversion, upgrade, cancel, reactivate

Trust me, if you have to replicate all the customer info you have in Stripe in GA, things will get messy.

Google Analytics really wasn’t designed to track recurring revenue.

If you search “tracking SaaS revenue in google analytics” the top results basically tell you it’s difficult. It requires multiple hacks that aren’t great.

In practice, having to send Google Analytics customer data like this is a nightmare.

If they’re blocking GA, miss the thank you page, etc google doesn’t get that information.

Also, often this part of the funnel is misconfigured, and not correctly attributing revenue,

Mel, your party has refused to acknowledge the climate crisis, or commit to real action.

I will not be voting for you.

@youngprotean I followed Nathan Barry’s lead there. At Convertkit he does 30%, and I’d seen how compelling that had been for affiliates. 👍

SEO, and intent-based searches are our biggest channel.

@flybayer "Capital efficient" in the sense that a fund (hopefully) gets returns.

But burning hundreds of millions a year in the hopes of making LPs rich isn't my idea of efficiency. 😉

Yes, they might be "efficiently reaching their goal" of 20x returns, but they still burned the fuel.

Follow-up: Gen Z dramatically prefers Spotify and YouTube for podcast listening (especially when compared to other generations).

Thoughts why?

Using a no-code tool like @meepsapp you can get people to pay for early access to your SaaS, fill out a profile, invite them to Slack or Discord, and send them email updates.

(I think it's the best way to launch a startup)

I made a video as well: https://youtu.be/LixMlydi7dY

I've been working with @joshuaanderton on launching @meepsapp's early access, and I've learned a few things!

Biggest takeaway:

Building a community of early-access customers (true believers!) is a super power.

Our early-access Discord is especially 🔥.

Once you have profits, and good margins, reinvesting in the evolution of the business just feels right.

Nobody's more capital efficient than a bootstrapped founder.

VCs will burn hundreds of millions searching for one unicorn.

A bootstrapper can invest $5k-10k in their startup, build it on the side, and eventually earn millions in annual revenue.
