- tweeting COVID misinformation

@whale @jongold I’d have to see the numbers you’re referring to.

So far, I’ve seen a lot of false equivalency in comparisons. Isn’t Youtube apples to oranges?

Also, I have complained about data center usage (and Google’s overall footprint) in the past. We need to be reducing everything, no?

Because everything I’ve seen states that it’s excessive.

@jongold I’m pro artist, and pro experimentation.

But the climate effects of crypto are concerning.

Does the solution have to be crypto? Is there another system that could also work and benefit artists, without the excessive energy use?

@DanielZarick I dig it!

1. You’ve got built-in traffic.
2. People are in a good mood. Similar to “strolling downtown with a coffee.”
3. Folks love spending money on their pets. Perfect place for a “pet reward.”

@_erod It’s still a good question.

In your case, the answer to “what have you done to solve the problem?” is “nothing, because the social cost for me to ask the VP is too high.”

The answer is a good indicator of how much inertia there is around project management software.

@Shpigford Here’s an example:

Scientists tell us we should be worried about climate change and doing something about it.

In this case, it matter who is right (If scientists are right, we don’t have a planet).

It feels like that’s worth figuring out who’s right?

@Shpigford How do we solve respectful disagreements?

If both parties are willing to say they might be wrong, what source of truth can we go to to figure out who is right?

@bpratdesaba Tailwind is completely suitable for production web apps.

There are tons apps who have had it in production for 2+ years now.

We couldn’t have built Transistor without it.

@PaulJMorel @TransistorFM Hey Paul! Yes, that's by design. You can create new episodes via the API, but not new podcast feeds.

It's partly a protection mechanism so folks can't abuse it.

We're open to changes though. What's the use-case?

@renehentschel Again, I’m skeptical that ETH is going to be able to successfully move to PoS. (They’ve been trying to move to PoS for a long time).

The onus is for crypto folks to demonstrate that real efficiency is possible (before they deploy it at scale).

@renehentschel Yes. But it’s not all equal!

That’s the whole point:

- Cement is worse than wood frame
- Flying is worse than driving
- A gaming PC with giant GPUs is worse than a thin laptop

We need to actively reduce activities that emit more CO2.

@renehentschel In today’s context, it’s clear: that methodology doesn’t work anymore.

We don’t have the luxury of “move fast and break things” (we’ve broken too many things).

A looming climate crisis means everything (especially new tech) needs to be carefully considered.
