@tnorthcutt 👍

I’ve really been enjoyed just being present, centered, in mundane moments. Focusing on the moment, savoring my breathing.

There are four big motivations for hiring my kids:

1. Spend more time with them.

2. Teach them what I know about tech and business.

3. Run more experiments.

4. Get more done: running a business takes a lot of work. All four of my kids are old enough to help me with tasks.

@arvidkahl Great episode (I’m listening now)!

In my experience number two on your list is huge, especially for anybody with an audience.

Lots of false positives when you have a group of people that want to see you succeed or are just fans of yours.

This has happened to me and also to…

This past year we also hired Michael Green to help with customer support.

Customer service is hugely important to me; I think it's one of the most important features of SaaS.

I was answering live chats from 10am-11pm most days.

Michael has completely taken over. So freeing!

I'm thankful for everything we’ve built; I don't take it for granted.

But it feels like we don't have a big overarching goal like we did in the beginning (profitability).

Maybe that's OK? We built something that works; maybe it's enough to ensure that it continues to work.

@daniel_nguyenx The point of the original quote is to point out that a great product is “necessary but not sufficient” for success, and that distribution is the strongest lever.

But your point is true as well!

For indie products, “great product” often leads to more distribution (positive…

Lately, a lot of my interactions with ChatGPT have felt like this:

Me: "Do this work for me."

ChatGPT: "I can't do that work for you. Instead, I'll tell you how you can do the work yourself."

@ianlandsman It all depends on the comparative rate of acquisition.

Some B2B apps might be able charge more (and technically require less customers), but a B2P business can really thrive if it’s acquiring a steady flow of customers (with good LTV).

There’s no “one right structure” in SaaS;…

@p_millerd The Tesla buying experience is definitely the best I’ve had: no haggling, no silly sales theatrics, low documentation fees, etc

In just bought a second vehicle and dealt with multiple traditional automakers – in terms of “UX” they’re way behind Tesla.

Voice, tone, intention, and nuance are difficult to communicate in written form (and even harder when it's bite-sized, like on X).
