One thing he's doing well is sharing his journey and the process behind everything he's doing.

As we speak, @TheMuska is live on Instagram, getting ready to sign a bunch of boards for his next product drop. 💯

Currently, Chad is leveraging his Instagram, where he announces the limited edition product drops he sells on  @Shopify.

This is a great start!

My advice is for him to start building an email list. With email, you own your distribution channel (instead of depending on social…

@asmartbear I’m also challenging the idea that these rules are often true.

In my cohort of indie founders it’s more likely to have a mix of B2C, B2P, B2B, B2E.

Many of us also have lower priced plans that start at $12-$19.

@robwalling "Business is surfing" is a metaphor that illustrates that the market you're in determines much of your trajectory.

It's descriptive of what the shape of a good opportunity can look like, not prescriptive.

(I haven't given "audience-first" advice for a long time. I changed my…

@robwalling How could we empirically determine that this is true, universally, "90 or 95% of the time"?

Subjectively, in my circle, most apps seem to have a strong B2C or B2P element:

Carrd, ConvertKit, Transistor, TailwindUI, Fathom Analytics, @levelsio's apps, @tdinh_me's apps...

@TheCustomerGuy I think we're misunderstanding each other here.

If you're saying "The worse customer support nightmares are caused by hitting product-market fit with a B2C product, " I don't think that's a generalized truth.

@kasperkamperman This is why I think the "B2C, B2P, B2B, B2E" convention isn't necessarily helpful when evaluating business ideas.

A large percentage of our customer base is B2C. They are hobbyists who spend money on their hobbies.

And... we also have customers who are B2P, B2B, B2E!

@FrankieStyless @TransistorFM Hey! We're pretty affordable, depending on what you need to do.

For $19/month (or $190/year), you can start as many podcasts as you want on a single account. Most competitors charge you an additional monthly fee for every new podcast.

It also includes live customer support, a…

@jspujji @usefathom Honestly, the design and performance.

The layout of the dashboard, and the way you can quickly click through to get more detail is really well done.

Performance-wise, it’s fast.

For example, every small business needs accounting software.

Shortly after a business starts, they're in motion, deciding between Quickbooks and XERO.

The job of a marketing department is to convince customers to check out their product at that point in time.

@iamcoreyg Our school song was so good:

“Be the best you can be,
Strive to reach your goals, that’s the key,
To live life successfully,
Be the best you can be.”

@typeoneerror My primary point is that aspirational entrepreneurs should be trying to be outliers (what are the actions/characteristics that make outliers successful).

Often, when I bring up examples of successful indie products like ConvertKit, Laravel Forge, TailwindUI, Fathom Analytics,…

@kylefox Yes, increasingly, I'm trying to get in the habit of just choosing:

There are, however, decisions (like hiring and long-term strategic choices) that…

Connecting traffic to Stripe revenue is the key. A surprisingly high % of my revenue can be tracked to specific pages on my site and referrers.

@ikoichi @daniel_nguyenx Between the tracking I’m doing here, and the welcome email I send asking folks how they found us, I have much better handle on which marketing efforts are bringing in revenue. 👍

The point of this tracking is see which marketing experiments are bringing in results.

@r00k I think customer spend is an interesting attribute of a product than a distinction between “B2B vs B2C.”

I can almost guarantee that some of the companies you’re charging $250k to are also Transistor customers! But the dynamics of our product are different.

Your B2B customers…
