We sent an update to our mailing list, stating that we would launch on August 1st, 2018.

To our surprise, @JamesCridland at @Podnews announced our launch date on their site.

Having our launch date out in public meant the pressure was on: now we had to deliver!

@APinedaKeio Just read it! Really interesting exploration. Loved the “internal vs external” perspectives.

@asmartbear For me, my best creativity, ideas, and problem-solving come from:

- Rest
- Walks
- Therapy
- Reading
- Listening
- Boredom (long drives)
- Interesting conversations
- Connecting with interesting people
- Novel experiences (travel, retreats, conferences)

@asmartbear Curious: what are some common “potential downsides” that many new entrepreneurs miss?

@mastermaq Interesting that they chose to offer apartments over condos.

Good news for renters!

I also have lots of questions for @DCoulbourne about “members only burger bars” that don’t serve burgers…

@p_millerd Haha. It looks like the kind of book I'd be into!

It's already mirroring many of the things I felt/thought about in the past. 👍

@GaryGulman It’s crazy how the scale of how much wealth billionaires have has changed since this special aired.

@asmartbear 💯

Especially if you have the resources to pay for someone else to do the things you don't want to do (or aren't good at).

@peldi @balsamiq That’s an incredible achievement! 🎉

Peldi, you have inspired countless entrepreneurs (I’m one of them) with the way you run your company.

Congratulazioni! Ben fatto!

@JackEllis @shl @IndieHackers But it’s not just celebrities: you have influence, I have influence.

We get new customers from Twitter, our blog, our podcast, our marketing. This is a form of influence that we need to take responsibility for.

We need to be conscientious in what we say and do.

@manuel_frigerio @arvidkahl For me personally, I didn’t start winning in business until I learned what makes businesses win.

1. Focus on a category with strong customer demand
2. Build something customers are strongly incentivized to pay for
3. Enter a segment where you have advantages (network, skills)

Replying to @lennysan
@lennysan @nsphin There is a 24-hour delay from Spotify for the analytics they send podcast hosting platforms (Substack, Transistor, Libsyn, etc).

That's likely why you haven't seen Spotify stats ranking here yet.

@jclermont @TransistorFM Yes! We’ve thought about this before; the “golden ticket” episode. 😄

Not sure if/when we’ll build it but it’s a fun one.

The best part of this book is that @KHayhoe reveals her personal struggles. She identifies the guilt and hopelessness we all deal with, and she provides perspective on how to look forward.

“The guilt-based system will exhaust us. Here’s what really counts…”

@AliAbdaal For many years, I had “label anxiety,” largely around: “how should I introduce myself at meetups? What am I?”

The nice thing about the “founder” label is it can encompass many things.

Replying to @Shpigford
@Shpigford Failure is probably less subjective than we think.

I think most indie founders would say that initial success = “more freedom and more money than I’d get from a job.”

There’s still a big chance that most who try won’t reach that mark.

Most can’t afford to keep trying forever.

@jeff_weinstein @KateKendall @TransistorFM @atlas Thanks!

Our biggest need since launch is how to best manage international co-founders (I’m in Canada, Jon is in the USA) from a compensation/taxation perspective.

Also: how to give equity/options to employees.

Oh! And guidance on trademarks as well. 👍

Replying to @mijustin
@TransistorFM It's important to be clear about why you're starting a company. "What is this in service of?"

This means not only identifying your company's purpose ("help customers do X") but also your personal motivations ("earn more") for being an entrepreneur.

@iamwillcannon 🎯

There's no shame in quitting. Quitting gives you space. When you say "no" to one thing, you open yourself up to new opportunities.

It's OK to move on.
