2. The best growth is organic

Most of @AcquiredFM's growth has been organic word-of-mouth: they made a great product that folks want to recommend to their friends.

Organic growth compounds! They've doubled their audience every year for the last 8 years.

I was reminded of this on @noplanstomerge.

@calebporzio and @DCoulbourne were like: "What would we do if Twitter went away? We wouldn't have any way of reaching our people."

But then they said, "Wait a minute: we have this RSS feed. And the people here are 'the real ones.'"

Contrast that with comments on YouTube videos and TikTok where folks can immediately express their opinion.

Here, reducing friction invites outrage, knee-jerk reactions, and trolling.

By comparison, the responses I get to my podcast are much more nuanced, thoughtful, and kind.

@PovilasKorop Developer podcasts are some of the most popular shows hosted on @TransistorFM.

In general, they get many more downloads than the average podcast.

Developers definitely listen to podcasts!

One area I see a lot of job searchers struggle with is they haven't correctly identified a skill/job to be done that employers want.

You need "product/market fit" with the employer.

So often, as a marketer, I ask the devs on the team to pull data like this:

"Can we pull all the new podcasts on the system and let me know where they migrated from?"

Being able to query a database with natural language would be SWEET.

@dijonkitchen If you're bootstrapping, investing 10 years on a single idea is likely too long.

(The biggest risks in bootstrapping are burning out or going broke)

Before our team retreat, @jonbuda and I created a document called “How we work at @TransistorFM,” which was immensely clarifying (for both of us and hopefully the team).

It describes what we value, how decisions are made, our workflow, and our vision for the future.

One of the reasons I wanted to start the @podcastindnews show, was so I could test out search results for episodes with specific keywords.

I'm tracking Google search keywords I'm using traditional tools like @ahrefs.
