I highly recommend @sherrywalling’s book for any human who has experienced loss, sadness, ache, mourning, hurt, or grief.

Last night I finished reading @sherrywalling’s book, Touching Two Worlds.

It explores a difficult topic: grief.

I thought it was going to be hard and heavy to read. I was wrong!

It’s an incredibly uplifting and hopeful book. Probably the most powerful book I’ve read this year

I'd like to see more tech people take an "ethics first approach" to new ideas/tech.

I propose doing an "ethical S.W.O.T. analysis" in the earliest stages of an idea.

Thinking through what a (realistic) healthy cadence looks like is important

Your format delivers a ton of value; I'm glad you've figured out a healthy workflow for it!

(Compare that to the effort required to produce a daily vlog which I've seen tons of people burn out on)

Some mediums are more demanding than others, but it's often the demands we put on ourselves that are unhealthy.

For example, many people become creators/entrepreneurs so that they can spend more time with their families.

But then they get themselves on a work treadmill where they're so overcommitted they don't have time or energy to spend with their families.

If your intention is to be a creator so that you can _____, make sure you're not missing out on _____ by putting yourself on an overdemanding treadmill.

It's common for creators to have big ambitions.

But be sure to ask yourself:

In business, "winning" means achieving a better life for yourself, your team, and your customers.

If you're profitable, have an awesome product, enjoy serving your customers, earn good money, and work with amazing people then you're winning!!!

@dvassallo Yes. Saying “this is the only way I’m going to reach my desired destination” is too limiting.

If your destination is “a good life,” you have to be open to other paths that might take you there.

Pick a direction, move in that direction, see what you discover, evaluate how it feels.

The key is to get in motion.

It’s what you discover along the way that will likely make the biggest difference.

But if you’re standing still, stuck trying to figure out which direction to go, you’ll miss out on that discovery.

This phenomenon is probably best exemplified by @sivers’ story:

He spent 12 years pursuing his dream of being a professional musician, but it was his small side project (CD Baby) that became his first “hit.”

Many creators accidentally find success in one area while actively pursuing something completely different.

Often what “pops” is the side thing to the main thing you’re creating.

The key is to stay in motion: be curious, experiment, and watch for the elements that resonate.
