In science, opposing viewpoints and critiques are encouraged. Questioning other people's work publicly is seen as an important part of the process.

We need this same kind of rigor in tech, especially because the things we create have the ability to move/change entire societies.

Hardest business I've ever run (with the most challenging economics and logistics).

As remote workers, we can live anywhere. We're often drawn to towns with unique character, culture, and charm.

Most of that character is provided by Main Street cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and shops.

The unique patina of our cities won't survive unless we support it. ✊

As someone who is Extremely Online™, helping to promote local businesses is one way to give back.

I know from experience that posting about local shops in Vernon helps them tremendously.

(I've had numerous people tell me they visited @ratiovernon because of one of my posts)

As a remote worker working in tech, one of the best ways for me to contribute to my community is by shopping locally.

Better urban design, transit funding, and fundamental changes are all needed.

But moving an entire global society is difficult, takes time, and has nuance.

I think EVs are a small part of the solution.

We can't build a thriving green economy at the expense of other nations (especially developing countries like Indonesia).

A green economy needs to be focused on the health and wellbeing of all people.

Maybe a better way to put this is that “people are seeking the best version of that thing *for them* at this moment.”

They’re searching for CRM software, because they’re tired of using what they have.

They’re looking for a way to do X, because their current app doesn’t do it.
