@Patticus Can you tell me more about “willingness to pay?”

How is that data collected? Is it a self-reported “I would pay for this” in a survey, or are you actually tracking conversions-to-paid?

@gimenete Yes, I’ve been speaking with them.

There’s a few things about their solution that is not ideal (largely, you have to use their invoicing system).

“a16z led the charge on the "lol valuations don't matter" approach that defined 2019-2022 venture capital with deals like the one valuing Clubhouse at $4B or Hopin at $6B.”

Wild to look at those valuations now in 2023. 🤯

Interesting thread by Tyler. 👍 https://twitter.com/tylertringas/status/1627449217294958592

Best time to post a video? 🤔

We didn't have enough data on @TransistorFM's YouTube channel for this chart, but my personal YouTube + @TubeBuddy shows this:

But the word is they're not doing volume discounts anymore.

(Our current rate expires at the end of this year, so we'll see what happens then 😅)

So far, all I’ve received is messages from salespeople.

Have any SaaS *founders* done this transition?

Switching payment providers is a huge PITA (and a huge churn & conversion rate risk).

Would like to hear from SaaS that have actually done this.

Any SaaS founders out there who had a significant number of customers, subscriptions, and invoices in @stripe who successfully migrated to @PaddleHQ or @lmsqueezy?

I'd be curious to hear about your experience (and whether it was worth it).

@icebearlabs @digitaltrouble 🤔 How does corporate income tax work where you live?

Here, you only pay income tax on profit.

For Canadian corps claiming the small business deduction, the net tax rate is 9% (+ 2% for my province, BC).

Example:
$1 million revenue
- $900k expenses
= $100k profit
= $11k taxes

@brtkdotse In this case, businesses are not “paying” the sales tax (the customer is).

Businesses are being asked to collect sales taxes on behalf of different international governments.

Most of the businesses I know have no problems paying corporate income tax.

🤦‍♂️ this is not an “indie hacking” problem.

👀 look at your invoices folks. Many big corps, well-funded startups, etc, are not collecting international sales tax properly.

🇨🇦 here in Canada, about 50% of the international vendors I use are not collecting GST + PST. https://twitter.com/brtkdotse/status/1624468025834348544

@brtkdotse Why is my approach "naive?" If anything it's "eyes wide open."

Governments asking millions of small businesses to collect their sales taxes for them (in 90+ regions around the world) is a ridiculous externality.

When I look at my invoices, only 50% are collecting 🇨🇦 sales taxes

Before you build a product, you want to see some evidence of demand.

Essentially, you need to know:

"Is there a strong desire by a group of people for this product to exist?"

For remote workers, "working with a community of people you like, outside of your home" is the ultimate life hack.

We go for lunch, have chats throughout the day, and hang out after work.

It’s downtown, so I walk every day.

“Will people buy peanut butter?” Well, yes. But starting a new PB brand ain’t easy!

Will people buy WP hosting? Well, yes; the demand is there.

But you’re right: it really depends on how you sell it that matters.

TBH, this is also how interact with many SaaS websites now:

“No, what does it do?”

“I mean, we reduce founder stress and blahblah”
