@LukasThoms After years as a Product Manager, I learned that what people *say they want* and *what they actually use* are quite different.

A software company shouldn’t ask: “what features do you want next?”

But rather: “show me your whole workflow for accomplishing X.”

For example, a restaurant shouldn’t ask: “what new menu items would you like?”

Instead, ask: “where have you been going for lunch lately?”

Don’t ask customers: “what do you want?”

Ask them, “what have you been doing lately?”

Actions > words

"Buying into the narrative" in a lot of cases means "letting the narrative define your self image," doesn't it?

A (flawed) ideology is based on bad past experiences.

But those experiences shouldn’t dictate your future.

But recently I’ve started hiring again, and it’s been an incredible experience.

Example: I’ve had bad experiences hiring people in the past.

The resentment turns to ideology: “I don’t hire people. Solopreneur 4 life!”

The lie I’ve believed is that it’s “too late (or pointless) to do [a certain good thing].”

This belief gets solidified as an ideology.

Observation: I sometimes avoid certain actions, systems, and methods because of past bitterness, resentment, or anxiety.

"There must almost always be emotional desire for the product."

Human emotion drives most purchases.
