Most of the employee positioning I see is too generic and doesn't specifically answer the question:

"How are you (the applicant) going to solve the business’ problems?"

Show that you have the skills to solve the real challenges/problems/needs the business has.

One area I see a lot of job searchers struggle with is they haven't correctly identified a skill/job to be done that employers want.

You need "product/market fit" with the employer.

The key insight is that the boss is hiring to solve a problem they have.

"I need to hire someone better than me at front-end web dev."

"I need to hire someone who's great at marketing, who can improve acquisition."

Be the optimal candidate to solve the boss’ problem.

To rise to the top of the job applicant list you need to be:

“So good at X, they can’t ignore you.”

Where "X" means a recurring need/challenge/desire the boss wants solved.

First, I want to acknowledge how difficult and soul crushing a job search can be. (I know; I’ve been there too!)

It’s a grueling process to constantly apply, hoping for an interview.

The following tips aren’t easy, but could help you rise above the noise.

@adamwathan @37signals @jasonfried I really enjoyed this one.

Key insight was that new product development gets a totally different approach than traditional Shape Up. “Start expansive”

“Shape Up is best for existing products, where you know that you can (say) build a new feature in 6 weeks.”

I see lots of KPI dashboards that list "visits, views, ad impressions, clicks" but haven't seen many folks tracking which marketing activities lead to revenue.

How are you tracking which of your marketing efforts lead to revenue?

Examples:
- "This blog post led to this $$$ amount of revenue."
- "YouTube as a referrer generated $$$ of revenue."
- "Our SEO channel attracted X visitors, Y leads, Z number of customers, and $$$ total."

@asmartbear That's part of the experiment!

On YouTube, YouTube shorts can be "linked" to a longer video.

TikTok allows much longer videos, which allowed me to put a promo for @TransistorFM at the end.

The same piece of short-form content, posted simultaneously on Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts = with vastly more views on one.

Often, when I test this, one piece of content "takes off" in one place but won't do much on the other two.
