I'm in my 40s now. Here's some advice for folks in their 20s:

1. Optimize for learning & exploration
2. Question the beliefs you grew up with
3. Get out of your hometown! (Move to a big city if you can)
4. Meet interesting people in their 30s-70s and ask them how they got there
