I can't think of many (especially 40+!) who have bootstrapped a profitable SaaS only from customer revenues and hit enough revenue right away to live off it. Even in a 6-12 month window.

For example, @adamwathan does a lot of his “marketing” on Twitter. His audience follows him for programming tips, announcements, etc. It’s a great place for him to earn his audience’s trust.
