7cm of snow overnight made a big difference today. Much better conditions. 👍

@timwoneill @GentScientist In popular usage, the Wayne Gretzky quote often means:

“Innovate! Don’t focus on what exists now, go out and create something brand new, that doesn’t exist yet!”

☝️ very risky for bootstrapped startups IMO

I've had open DMs on Discord forever (as well as here on Twitter).

Never had a problem until I joined NFT discords.

I could block DMs from server members; but the reason I join these servers is to interact with the mods/creators (who do DM me).

@arvidkahl “The most common version of the nursery rhyme simply says:

"Jack be nimble / Jack be quick / Jack jump over / The candlestick."

However, other versions add:

"Jack jumped high / Jack jumped low / Jack jumped over and burned his toe."”

@JasonRBradwell @kiakamgar @TransistorFM There's a few things people tell us when they switch to us from other providers.

They like how we offer:
- unlimited podcasts for one price (we don't charge you for creating additional shows)
- 24/7 live chat support
- enhanced private podcasts
- affordable dynamic ad insertion

@dvassallo @JustinSaaS I prefer: "Be mindful and considerate, always."

It doesn't necessarily mean you have to be "slow" all the time; just that you need to take moments to *consider*.

@scottbolinger Don't be too dismissive. There's a reason we don't allow minors to gamble or buy securities.

Legislation is also concerned about *who* gets to run gambling establishments and offer securities (with regards fighting organized crime).

Oversight keeps the train on the rails.

@ianlandsman The difference is the global top 10% is a sizeable group, with a sizeable carbon footprint.

"The emissions share of the top 10% of income earners is around 36–49% of the global total, whereas the lowest 50% of income earners account for around 7–15% of emissions."

@staydecent I agree: it'd be better if we didn't have to do this this way.

But, we have to work within the current constraints.

I'm fine with activists making an exception, and flying to COP26 to pressure those people. 👍

@tylertringas You've mentioned this a few times.

Because a lot of your argument seems to hinge on "trust me, I've got experience," could you elaborate?

Who are these people you've worked with? What was your relevant experience? Is this a closed book now? (No new inputs needed?)

@staydecent For many of those traveling to COP26, that's not the case.

For a more nuanced view on why some environmentalists decided to travel to COP26 (and why others did not) this @CBCnews story is good:

@nicolascava @aarondfrancis Yes. It's not uncommon for a "normal" person in tech (in North America) to travel 3-5x per year for work (conferences, team meetups, work retreats) on top of the number of times they travel for pleasure.

@nikolaj_astrup I agree!

Again, in the face of climate emergency, it should all be on the table.

But let's look at the real per capita numbers, and evaluate them properly.

Again: if you're currently flying 6x a year, throwing away your car is not your biggest impact decision.
